Eligibility Policy

Age requirement
You must be at least 18 years of age to register for or use Paddle Supernova. We do not knowingly accept registrations from minors. If we become aware that an account belongs to a person under 18, we will close it and void any virtual-point balance held on it. Note that virtual points have no monetary value, so closure carries no financial consequence to the holder.
Where Paddle Supernova is available
Paddle Supernova is operated from the United Kingdom and is positioned for adult users in the United Kingdom and the European Union/EEA. The Service is also accessible from other jurisdictions where its use is not prohibited by local law, but we do not actively market or onboard outside the UK and EU/EEA at this time.
Paddle Supernova involves no real-money stakes, pays no monetary prizes, and is structured as a free-to-play, skill-based prediction product. The free-to-play / no-prize structure is designed to place the Service outside the definitions of betting, gaming, lottery, and regulated financial services under the UK Gambling Act 2005, the UK Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, and the equivalent gaming and financial-services regimes of EU/EEA member states. We treat that legal position as a well-considered reading rather than as formally adjudicated, and we will update this policy if any relevant regulator publishes guidance that affects the structure.
The Service is not offered to users in jurisdictions where its use would be unlawful under local rules on gambling, gaming, lotteries, sweepstakes, or financial-product distribution. You are responsible for understanding whether use of Paddle Supernova from your location is lawful where you are.
Skill, not chance
Paddle Supernova is structured as a skill-based prediction product, not a game of chance. Outcomes depend on the participant's ability to read publicly available auction catalogs, weigh comparables, and interpret disclosed guarantor structures — not on the operation of a random-number generator or any luck mechanic.
The full argument — public catalog accessibility, comparables analysis, disclosed guarantor signal, leaderboard persistence, and the live dispute process — is set out on the methodology page at Methodology → Why this is skill, not chance.
Who Paddle Supernova is for
Paddle Supernova is a free-to-play prediction platform for people who follow the fine-art auction market from the outside: collectors, researchers, journalists, advisors, students, and enthusiasts. It is designed for participants who form their views from publicly available information and have no privileged access to the sale being predicted.
The platform is not suitable for, and access is restricted from, individuals who hold non-public information about a sale that could give them a material edge over other participants.
Paddle Supernova has no commercial affiliation with any of the auction houses named in this policy; they are referenced solely as examples of employers whose staff may hold material non-public information about consigned lots.
The four red lines
To participate, you must confirm that all four of the following statements are true at the time of attestation and remain true while you hold open positions:
- No current insider employment. You are not currently employed by Sotheby's, Christie's, Phillips, Bonhams, or Heritage in a role with access to consignment, guarantee, or pre-sale price information.
- No principal interest. You are not a named consignor, guarantor, or financing party for any lot in the marquee sales currently open on this platform.
- No binding NDA. You are not bound by any non-disclosure agreement that would be breached by participating in public predictions on these lots.
- Cooling-off period for former staff. If you have left a major auction house in the past six months, you will refrain from predicting on lots from that house's current sale cycle.
Cooling-off periods
The platform applies a voluntary six-month cooling-off period for former auction house staff before they participate in predictions on lots handled by their former employer. This period is self-reported at the time of attestation.
If your circumstances change after attestation, you are responsible for ceasing to place predictions immediately. Contact eligibility@paddlesupernova.com to close your positions before stepping away.
Audit trail and disputes
Every prediction, payout, and point movement on Paddle Supernova is recorded in an append-only ledger linked by cryptographic fingerprint, so that historical records cannot be silently altered. Any participant who believes an outcome has been settled incorrectly may raise a dispute through the published process at Methodology → Disputes, typically within 72 hours of the settlement timestamp. The editorial team reviews submitted evidence within 5 business days; revisions, where granted, are reflected in the ledger.
Enforcement and revocation
Paddle Supernova reserves the right to revoke points, freeze positions, and terminate access to any account where an eligibility attestation is found to be materially false. No monetary value attaches to points at any time, so revocation carries no financial consequence.
We may request supporting information from users identified as potentially ineligible. Failure to respond within 14 days of a written request will be treated as confirmation of ineligibility.
